Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to be a professional ballet dancer. However, after watching her sister Katie on the Ladies Room movie set, Emily was captivated by acting. Her acting career began when she started taking classes. Also, she got appearances on television shows in her home country of Canada. Some of the shows she had starred in among others were Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career after he was cast on the WB horror-mystery series Glory Days as Sam Dolan. The series was canceled after 9 episodes and despite receiving positive reviews. In reality, she was swift in securing another role as Amy Abbott on Everwood. She was a finalist to win the award for four Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
